Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Stanley, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. Those under 25 may incur extra charges. A valid driving license, appropriate for the vehicle category and held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement, is required. Additionally, renters must present valid identification, proof of current address, and provide payment information along with a security deposit. Any other requirements stipulated in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. A booking deposit might be necessary to confirm your reservation. The total payment and security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All rates are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed at this time. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling fees will be applied if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur additional charges, so please notify us immediately if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. There may be options for additional insurance that can limit your financial liability. It’s beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you have opted for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited, along with the transport of hazardous materials. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly forbidden. Additionally, using the vehicle for purposes it was not designed for, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or driving outside the designated geographical area without prior consent is unacceptable.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Stanley Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount paid for the rental within the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by English and Welsh law. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts of England and Wales.
Modifications to Terms
Stanley reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
