Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement presented during booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities for that rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle requires:

• To hire a vehicle from Stanley, drivers must be at least 21 years old, with age restrictions varying by vehicle type. Those under 25 may incur extra charges. A valid driving licence suited to the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided, and any additional conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met.

3. Reservations and Payments

• Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon collection of the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment processors.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• At the time of vehicle collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the vehicle. Please return the vehicle in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Additionally, the vehicle must be returned with the same level of fuel as when it was picked up; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle later than scheduled. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administrative fee.

Insurance and Responsibility

• All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. For comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts, please refer to your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, except when additional insurance is in place. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.

Cancellation and Modifications

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle

• Prohibited activities include any illegal use of the vehicle. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky behaviors is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle to others is prohibited. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside the agreed geographical boundaries without authorization are also strictly forbidden.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.

Limitation of Responsibility

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Stanley Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

9. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.

Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are published on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
